Sinus Elevation Procedures
During Surgery a "sinus lift" procedure
is performed. This is a process of surgically creating a
small hinged window of bone to gain access to the sinus
cavity (A). When the bony flap is gently pushed in it causes
the sinus membrane to be "lifted" (B).The bone
grafting material is then deposited into the hollow space
underneath the sinus membrane (C). Many times implants can
be placed in conjunction with the sinus grafting (D). Due
to the large amount of bone to be grown, it will generally
require a healing period of 9 to 12 months before teeth
can be placed on implants in the sinus graft area.
